FOOTBALL: Mention of tomorrow’s opening day opponents, Bradford (Park Avenue), always brings back memories of an horrendous trip the team had the last time we travelled there a couple of season’s ago.

The game went ahead despite a lot of the surrounding area and roads being flooded. The A1 was closed, which meant a detour into Nottingham where the coach driver got lost, resulting in a scenic tour of Retford!

We finally got back on track but the damage had been done with the team not arriving at the ground until 3.20pm. The game finally kicked off at 3.55 but, despite the awful preparation, we somehow came away with a 3-2 win, thanks to a last-minute goal from Sonny Carey.
