FOOTBALL: Despite the 2021/22 season being an all but distant memory, and with preparation under way for the coming season, King’s Lynn Town Ladies came together to celebrate their inaugural season in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League’s Premier Division. 

The evening was presented by manager Alex Cook and the vice-captain Jodie Hopkins.

Cook, who joined the team at the Christmas break, gave thanks to the various individuals who had aided him and thanked the team as a whole for taking him on board and making him feel welcome from the start of his tenure. 

Presentations were made to players and staff, comprising:

Suiter Construction awards – Most Improved Player: Ellie Prentice.

Golden Boot: Joint award – nine goals each – Amy Magnus and Tiffany Forshaw. 

Supporters Player of the Year: Jodie Hopkins.

Manager’s Play of the Year: Fran Peeling.

Players’ Player of the Year: Lily Porter.

The team also presented gift to individuals for their contributions:

Jodie Hopkins – for contribution both on and off the pitch.

Alex Cook – manager

Pete Prentice – driver, linesman and for general assistance.

Giuseppe Emma – goalkeeping coach.

Rich Brown – photography and media duties.

Jason Gant – head steward.

Norman Cesar – FA and league administration, kit man.

Pre-season training starts with an open training session next Thursday, June 23, 6.30-8.30pm, with further sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at King Edward VII Academy. 

The team will be playing a series of friendlies ahead of the new season starting, beginning with a home match against Thetford Town on Sunday, July 3 at Alive Lynnsport.
