Watlington players with their new tracksuits at Morton’s Barbershop.

FOOTBALL: Watlington Sports & Social Club will certainly look a cut above when they take on KLSC in the North West Norfolk League Division One cup final at Fakenham Town this evening, 7.30pm.

The village team have been sponsored by Morton’s Barbershop, of Downham Market, and will wear new tracksuits for the match and also next season, when they will be stepping up to the Anglian Combination.

The team had been favourites to win the league too but KLSC’s impressive late-season form means they need just a win in their final match next week to pip them at the post.

Watlington manager Andy Brydon said: “It will be a shame to lose the league on goal difference but it’s still been a fantastic season for us, coming up from Division Two and challenging for the title. It shows what a great group of players we have. Our aim was promotion into the Anglian Combination, and we’ve done that, thanks to a top-two finish.

“We feel the club now needs to progress into these higher leagues so, regardless of the outcome, it’s still been a successful season for us.”
