FOOTBALL: AFC Lynn Napier Reserves stormed into the final of the Primary Cup with an impressive 6-1 win over Costessey Sports United.

Nap came into the match having already secured the North West Norfolk League Division 3 title.

In the previous round they had beaten MJ Don’s 4-1, who Costessey had also beaten 4-0 recently in another cup competition. Knowing this, it meant AFC Lynn needed to ensure their preparation and approach was spot on.

The team were focused and took it to Costessey from the off – but were struggling to find that final pass.

The breakthrough came after 21 minutes when a superb ball over the top of the defence was met by an equally impressive run from Liam Simper, who lobbed the on-rushing keeper.

By half-time Nap were 3-0 to the good, with club top goalscorer Charlie Royle bagging himself two goals in the 30th and 42nd minutes.

In between those two strikes Thomas Beeby had been called into action to deny a clear goalscoring chance.

Knowing the next goal would be key, the team came out for the second half pushing for a fourth and it was Charlie Royle who got it and his hat-trick with an excellent strike across the keeper to the bottom corner in the 60th minute.

Credit to the away team, they kept playing and after a clumsy challenge in the box made it 4-1 from the penalty spot.

With renewed enthusiasm they were now pushing for a second goal but Thomas Beeby was again there to lock them out.

As full-time approached Charlie Royle added two more goals in the 78th and 83rd to take his tally to five for the day and the scoreline to 6-1.
