A fresh planning application has been submitted for a project to help a North Lynn church reach out to its community.

Full planning permission is being sought from West Norfolk Council for improvements at the Methodist Church, St Edmundsbury Road.

Permission for the scheme was granted in 2018 but has lapsed and a fresh application has now been submitted for a front extension and internal alterations.

The aim of the project is to make the church look more welcoming and allow it to be used for social events, coffees and meetings, documents state.

The existing church building looks “defensive and forlorn” when it should be “buzzing with activity and projecting a warm welcome”, design and access details state.

Proposed is a single-storey extension with a welcome area, cafe-style seating, soft play area, and new lobby. Alterations also include a new kitchen.
