The Sandringham estate will host a bumper programme of events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The nation is set to come together over a four-day bank holiday weekend to celebrate the monarch’s 70-year reign.

It will be the first time any British monarch has reached the  historic milestone.

The estate, the Queen’s country retreat, has been the private home to four generations of British monarchs since 1862.

It will host several events over the extended June bank holiday weekend, beginning on Thursday, June 2, with the lighting of a Jubilee Beacon.

It follows a long tradition of celebrating royal jubilees, weddings and coronations with the lighting of the Sandringham beacon.
