A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving after a crash in the early hours of Christmas Eve in which a woman died.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the collision on the A148 at East Rudham, close to the junction with Abbey Lane.

It happened just after 1.35am and involved a silver Vauxhall Insignia, being driven in the direction of King’s Lynn.

Emergency services were called and the road was closed for a time.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said a female passenger in her 40s died at the scene.

On Wednesday the spokesman said the man in his 20s had been released under investigation while enquiries continued.

Officers have appealed for witness and dash cam footage.
