Remembering the fallen at West Winch, Setchey, North Runcton and Middleton.

Tribute was paid to the fallen at a Remembrance Day service held at the war memorial in the churchyard of St Mary’s Church at West Winch.

The benefice comprises West Winch, Setchey, North Runcton and Middleton.

The service was arranged by the Middleton and District branch of the Royal British Legion.

Rev Riaz Mubarak officiated and the legion branch standard bearer was John Collier.

Local Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides and Brownies took part in the service.

The youth organisations were led by Colin Tegerdine. The names of the fallen were read by Ray Smith (Middleton), Lilian Fisher (North Runcton) and Florence Bush (West Winch and Setchey. The Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph was recited by Brian Foster.

Wendy Galley read the lesson and wreaths were laid by representatives of the three parish councils, the parish churches, Middleton and District Royal British Legion, the Parachute Regiment, Northern Ireland Campaign, Royal Air Force, Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies and Beavers.

A short service was also held at the West Winch and Setchey memorial peace garden where Peter Jackson laid a wreath on behalf of village residents.
