The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

Visiting restrictions imposed on inpatient wards at King’s Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital will remain in place until next Thursday.

The NHS in Norfolk and Waveney said restrictions affect all hospitals and trusts with inpatient wards, with the exception of acute mental health wards.

A spokesman for the local clinical commissioning group said restrictions had been extended following rising Covid infection rates in the community.

It is hoped the measures will reduce the transmission of the virus into local hospitals from visitors and help protect both patients and staff.

There will be a number of exceptions for patients receiving end-of-life care, maternity services, children, patients with mental health issues such as dementia, a learning disability or autism.

People should check hospital websites for further information and discuss individual cases with the teams on wards.
