SCHOOL SPORT: A fantastic morning of cross country running took place at Lynnsport on Tuesday.

It saw almost 450 qualifiers from Smithdon, Downham, St Clements, Marshland, Nicholas Hamond and Town clusters competing in this year’s West Norfolk School Sports Partnership finals.

The runners represented more than 40 primary schools from across the area.

Separate races for boys and girls across year groups 3 to 6 were completed throughout the morning with a field of almost 60 runners per race.

All qualifiers will be presented with certificates at their school with information about how to further their running experience through local athletics clubs, junior Parkrun and the Shouldham Cross Country Grand Prix series.

Thanks were expressed to all those schools and parents who supported the event and to the team of sports leaders from the College of West Anglia and King Edward VII Academy who helped to check in runners, acted as a hare for each race, marshalled the course and handed out finish tokens at the end of each race.

It all helped produce a great team effort to deliver another successful West Norfolk Schools sports event.
