King’s Lynn’s free fireworks display Fawkes in The Walks made a welcome return.

As well as the spectacular display there was also live music and fairground rides to entertain the crowds at last Friday’s event.

Graham Middleton, deputy leader of West Norfolk Council, said: “Last Friday night was a fantastic evening with thousands of people attending, including lots of young families. The weather was perfect – dry, clear and still.

“The crowd loved the live music from The Chebbs and the fantastic display lit up the sky at 8pm. It’s great to be able to put on such a brilliant free display for people in the centre of King’s Lynn.”

Mr Middleton thanked everyone involved in organising the event, as well as King’s Lynn Parkrun volunteers who helped with the clear-up the following morning.

He added that the council would underwrite the surplus that would be raised for local charities at firework displays  organised by the Round Table in Hunstanton and Downham, should attendance be lower this year due to Covid.

Mr Middleton explained: “The last 18 months have been challenging for not only our communities but for many great local charities, as fundraising has been affected at a time when demand has increased for many residents.

“I’m pleased that the borough council can help these excellent events and the great West Norfolk charities that they support.”
