The bridge at Old Hunstanton is due to be closed for five days while repairs are carried out.

Maintenance work on Hunstanton Bridge is planned to start on Monday and is expected to finish Friday.

While bridge brickwork is being repaired, the road – the A149 – will be closed to traffic for the full duration of the works.

A Norfolk county council spokesman said: “Unfortunately the road will need to be closed to traffic due to its narrow width and the need to provide a safe working area.

“While closed an official signed diversion route for vehicles will be in place.”

However, while the work is taking place, pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge, which crosses the River Hun.

As a result of the road closure, bus operator Lynx has tweeted to say there will be disruption to its Coastliner 36 service.

Buses will not be able to access Lighthouse Close and Lincoln Square in Hunstanton, the Post Office, The Lodge and Waterworks Road in Old Hunstanton, Beach Road and Crossroads in Holme-next-the-Sea and, Drove Orchards and Thornham Deli in Thornham, Lynx has said.
