FOOTBALL: Lynn Lionesses are proving to be a roaring success at KLSC
In line with the FA Wildcats programme, King’s Lynn Soccer Club have launched their own programme of football coaching for girls from school Year 7-plus.
The Lionesses train on Thursdays, 6.30-7.30pm at West Lynn playing field under floodlights
Club secretary Philip Yates said he has been delighted with the success of the programme.
“I wish more clubs could be proactive in arranging all-female training,” he said.
“Girls are often overlooked in mixed football, having to work twice as hard just to prove a point that they are equal to, if not better than, their male teammates.
“Here they can be themselves, with no one to prove anything to. This also gives the girls a sense of belonging, regardless of ability.
“They really are a cracking bunch and get on exceptionally well. It’s a great team environment.”
The Lionesses have been kitted out in training tops to promote the 8:56 Foundation bearing ‘It’s Time To Talk’ messages to help raise awareness for men’s mental health.
Girls in school Years 7-11 are welcome to join the club or training sessions. For details, call Philip Yates, 07917 384983.
