Health chiefs have sent text messages to 40,000 people in Norfolk and Waveney who haven’t yet had a Covid-19 vaccination to offer them their first jab.

The message advises people to get vaccinated before the onset of winter.

The latest data shows 93 per cent of people in Norfolk and Waveney have had one vaccine dose and 86 per cent have had two.

Howard Martin, from the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Some of these people will never choose to have a vaccine and we accept their choice.

“But we know there will be many others who really do want a vaccine but – for whatever reason – just can’t face it or find the right moment.

“We want these people to know that we are listening, and that there is tailored support available to them.”

Specialists at vaccination sites are on hand to discuss any individual issues and put in place support needed.
