Auditions will be held next week for a production early in the new year of Grease – the Musical.
King’s Lynn Operatic and Dramatic Society (KLODS) is set to stage the smash-hit show after two years of negotiating.
Performances will be at the town’s Guildhall from January 26 to 29.
The production was meant to be staged to celebrate the society’s 120th birthday and, following a delay due to the pandemic, the new date has been set.
Cast workshops will be held on Monday at 7.30pm with auditions on Thursday at 7pm all in the revamped KLODS Hut in St George’s Courtyard off King Street.
The production will be directed by KLODS’ resident director and vice-chairman Hayley Dennis who said: “This fast-moving show will need a cast who are good singers and have the ability to dance well, as many of the staged numbers will be more than a little energetic.
“That is why KLODS is holding a workshop before the auditions. All parts are on the KLODS’ Facebook page and can be downloaded.”
KLODS chairman David Nash said: “Much has changed during lockdown with theatrical licences and with the Guildhall now being a venue of demand, the start of the rehearsals to the opening night is about three months.
“Therefore KLODS is looking for a dedicated and talented cast to make this family classic show take King’s Lynn by storm, well, Greased Lightning to be more precise. KLODS was most honoured to be allowed to keep the licence when we had to move the show into 2022.”
Tickets are available from the Corn Exchange box office in Lynn.
