People are being encouraged to step out for national Fitness Day on Wednesday.

The team at Alive West Norfolk is hoping to inspire the community to take part in its  “Alive Active Mile – your mile your way”. 

Jonny Wheeler, active community manager, said “National Fitness Day is a fantastic opportunity for friends and communities to come together and enjoy a mile, hopefully taking advantage of some of West Norfolk’s beautiful coastline and countryside. 

“The day is as much a social opportunity to connect with other people as it is about fitness, and I would encourage anyone taking part in any activity throughout the day to do so with other people and share the experience together.”

The mile challenge can be completed any way – such as running, walking, cycling, swimming or skateboarding.  

You can complete your mile at the gym, at home or in your lunch hour.

Every step you take counts towards your active mile and sports like hockey, football or golf also count.

People have also been invited to let the team know about how they, their friends, schools, clubs or work colleagues will be taking part. 

Participants can also share pictures or videos of their efforts on the Alive social media sites at Twitter and Facebook  @AliveActiveCommunity.

A spokesman said: “With many of us just returning to sport or physical activity and looking for inspiration to improve our fitness and wellbeing we really hope that you will join us for this fun event.
