ATHLETICS: Eight of the nine West Norfolk AC members in action at the Norfolk Athletics Championships at the UEA SportsPark in Norwich returned with medals.
Senior women’s athlete Lucy Edwards won gold in the triple jump with a 9.49m leap and came third in the 200m in 28.9 seconds – both season’s best.
Teammate Michaela Raine won double silver in the 200m and 400m, finishing in 27.1 and 65.2 respectively.
U20 Millie Bastian also earned silver in the 200m in 29.5.
Senior T20 para-athlete Cameron Ross ran a strong 200m to finish with a season’s best performance and a silver medal in 29.0.
Kai Peggs, u13, won silver in the 75m hurdles in 15.5, while Theo Morrell, u15, ran a personal best time of 24.5 in his heat of the 200m and in the final won bronze in 25.0.
Thomas O’Neill, u15, was third in his heat of the 200m in a PB 25.7 and in the final finished sixth in 26.2.
O’Neill had more success in the triple jump, winning the bronze medal with a PB jump of 10.27m.
Harrison Lesniak, u11, won bronze in the long jump with a PB of 3.11, while his elder sister, Mia, u13, came close to a medal in her two events with two PB performances, finishing fourth in the 70m hurdles, 13.8, and fourth in the high jump, 1.15m.
