Green-fingered gardeners and craft enthusiasts celebrated the return of the annual King’s Lynn Horticultural Society Show after last year’s event had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And it was certainly worth the wait for one entrant, who scooped up first place wins in 10 of the 28 categories.

Selina Povey came away with seven cups, one trophy, one medal and one vase across a range of categories, including best cacti, foliage plant, white onions and selection of vegetables.

Other winners included Penny Hipkin who bagged classes, John Hipkin, Terrie Hill (2), Stella Mills (2), Jill Walker (2), David Caink, Isobel Mills,  Goodwins Hall Care Home, Ann Player, Jo  Itter. Archie Tomson won a cup for the best exhibit in the junior section and Edward Mills for the best fuchsias in the under 10s category.

The show was held last weekend at South Wootton Village Hall. Entrants competed in classes including flowers, vegetables, baking, preserves, photography, and arts and crafts.

Prizes were presented by West Norfolk Mayor, Harry Humphrey, and his wife, Brenda.
