The Reverend Canon Dr Mark Dimond has been appointed  as the new team rector at King’s Lynn Minster.

The  Bishop of Norwich, the Right Reverend Graham Usher, presided over Rev Dimond’s institution as team rector of the Minster at a service last Sunday.

Rev Dimond, who is married to Sam and has three grown-up children, said: “I came to King’s Lynn last year for the first time and I felt the call.

“The town is wonderful and the people are very friendly.

“I visited St Margaret’s and sat at the back of the church during the pandemic and felt very moved.

“My hope is to understand where we are after the pandemic – lots of people have lost loved ones and been hurt and we have been hidden away in our homes.

“I also hope that the young people of King’s Lynn can develop their faith and maybe find something in the church that is appealing and brings them nearer to God.”

Before coming to King’s Lynn, Rev Dimond, who was born in Japan, was a priest in Berlin and Hamburg and was previously a minister in Cardiff and chaplain for the Archbishop of Wales.

Following the ceremony at the weekend, Rev Dimond said: “It was beautiful.

“My family was in attendance and I had such a warm and friendly welcome by the people of King’s Lynn. It was wonderful.”
