FOOTBALL: Luis Fernandez is the latest player to join the Linnets revolution.
The 19-year-old centre back has moved to The Walks on a season-long loan from League Two side Stevenage.
He started his career in the Stevenage Academy and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in the EFL Trophy in August 2019. During the 2019/20 season he made eight appearances before being loaned to National League South side Oxford City.
Enfield-born Fernandez, who describes himself as a ball-winning defender, said: “I’m looking forward to the move. I spent time in the National League South last season and feel that playing in the National League is the next step in my football career.
“I like to get stuck in and wear my heart on my sleeve.
“After speaking to Ian (Culverhouse) the plans for this year sound exciting and he has a good philosophy of how he wants to play football.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Jordan Richards and striker Dayle Southwell have left the club. Richards scored in the super play-off final at Warrington.
Southwell scored the Linnets first National League goal but has joined National League North side Alfreton Town.
