FOOTBALL: Cameron King marked his return to fitness with the opening goal of a new season for King’s Lynn Town.

It came in a 3-1 defeat against League One side Milton Keynes Dons at The Walks on Tuesday.

The opening friendly of the campaign saw a game of four 30-minute quarters as both managers switched and swapped their squads, with the Linnets also swapping kits at half-time.

All seven of Lynn’s summer signings got on the pitch, alongside a batch of trialists.

Summer signing Scott Twine put the Dons ahead after 10 minutes and doubled his tally from close range after 58 minutes.

The goal of the game came after 70 minutes when King picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and, spotting the goalkeeper of his line, unleashed a terrific chip into the net.

Max Watters completed the scoring when he was first to react after his initial effort had been blocked.

The Linnets are back in action this evening in front of a ticket sell-out crowd at The Walks when Premier League new boys Norwich City come to town, 7pm.

Lynn starting line up: Paul Jones, Dan Bowry, Pierce Bird, Ross Barrows, Michael Gyasi, Michael Clunan, Junior Morias and four trialists.

Second half team: Charlie Phillips, Tai Fleming, Luis Fernandez, Tyler Denton, Ethan Coleman, Joe Gascoigne, Munashe Sundire, Cameron King, Gold Omotayo and two trialists.
