Runners and those who like to keep fit will be pleased to hear the popular Parkrun in King’s Lynn is set to return if Covid rules are relaxed by the government as planned.

Organisers are preparing for a return of the weekly 5k runs in The Walks on Saturday, July 24.

The last parkrun at the Lynn venue was held on March 19, 2020. Now permission has been granted for a return and parkruns nationally are set to restart later this month.

As part of restart preparations, a training event was held to refresh volunteers on what is required and introduce those volunteers new to the event.

Parkrun is a volunteer-led event which would not be possible without a steady flow of helpers.

The training was led by Gary Walker, Lynn parkrun event director, who said: “It was great to see so many turn up for the training, which is hopefully an indication of the wider interest in getting back out, for what is a great weekly community event.”

Parkrun is a free, timed 5k community event held in The Walks at 9am each Saturday.

Any ages can either run or walk the course and participants can also take part with their dog or pushing a buggy.

Anyone who wants to take part must first register at www.parkrun.com
