ATHLETICS: West Norfolk AC men coped with some last-minute call-offs and injuries to finish second at a vets match in Peterborough.

Performance of the evening came from club chairman Gavin Lane (V50), who came second and in the 200m and was also third in the 1500m B walk. Other V50 performers were Ricky Bailey (hammer 2nd, 5.25m; shot 6.64m, high jump 3rd, 1.15m). John Greenhalgh was third in the 3,000m (12.16.8). 

In the V35 category, Neil Watson bagged a personal best time when he won the 110m hurdles and also won the high jump on countback. Ben Collison was second in the 3,000m while Lee Tunmore was second in the hammer and third in the shot). Matt Lamb was second in the 200m and Mark Garrett finished third in the A walk. Sole V60 competitor Ian Reeve was second in the high jump and third in the hammer and shot.

The team of Watson, Lamb, Garrett and Tunmore finished second in the 4x400m relay.

Katrina Wasteney took part in five events in the women’s V35, winning the 1500m walk and coming third in the 200m, 3,000m, hammer and shot.  

Tim Coates, Gavin Lane, Martin Koenigsberger and Richie Walker competed in a
24-hour endurance challenge at the Suffolk Trailfest completing 30 five-mile laps to finish third in the small team category. 

Rob Gosnell ran the Holkham 10k in 52.20 to finish 106th overall and third in his age category. Sam Stringer finished the Ferry Meadows 10k in 56.22 while, at the Outlaw Half Holkham Ironman, Jen Isaac completed the event in 5.10.05 and Ben Collison took part in a team in the swim section.
