A long-standing worker has been praised for her dedication after deciding to retire following 45 years with the same West Norfolk company.

Christine  Johnson retired last Thursday from Downham Market firm AT Johnson after a  long career.

Management and colleagues gathered for a presentation to Ms Johnson, of Hunstanton,  who started with the company at the age of 19.

She has worked in the accounts department all that time, holding the post of accounts manager at the time of her retirement.

To mark her dedicated service, Ms Johnson was presented with a cheque and a bouquet from the company and will be treated to a meal at a later date.

She also received retirement gifts from colleagues, friends and some customers and colleagues brought buffet food and cakes to mark her final day at the Bridge Street store.

Brian Melton, a partner at AT Johnson, said Ms Johnson will be missed by the partners and colleagues.

“She’s very dedicated and conscientious.

“She’s always been the first one to arrive at work, she’s an early bird,” he said.

The presentation was made on behalf of partners Mr Melton, Robert Johnson and Sean Melton.

Ms Johnson is now looking forward to spending time pursuing some of her hobbies, including dancing.

Mr Melton said it was an emotional goodbye and Ms Johnson remarked it had been one of the best days she has had.
