Norfolk Bloodbikes, whose volunteers transport life-saving medical requirements such as blood, platelets, vaccines and donor breast milk, has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest accolade given to voluntary organisations.
In posting the news on social media, the charity said it will also receive a citation for its work during the pandemic in transporting Covid samples for testing.
“A huge thank you goes out to all our volunteers, past and present. Your commitment and dedication have earned us this award.
“Our thanks must also go to all our supporters, the many businesses and charitable organisations who have and continue to support the work we do,” the charity said.
