Litter pickers can now take up to three bags of rubbish to Norfolk County Council’s recycling centres.

The move has been announced with the launch last Friday of the national Great British Spring Clean.

A spokesman said people looking to organise a group litter pick should still contact their district council which  can help provide bags, grabbers and arrange for rubbish to be collected.

Andy Grant, the county cabinet member for environment and waste, said: “We’re making it much easier for people who want to help keep their local area tidy to properly dispose of the litter they collect.

“Whether you’re looking to pick up a couple of bags of rubbish yourself, or to organise a group litter pick, I’d urge people to visit www.norfolkrecycles.com/litter for more information and support.”

Litter must be bagged with cans and glass separated. Fly-tipped waste should be reported to the borough council.
