ANGLING: Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery are throwing an end-of-season barbecue as a mark of gratitude to their loyal customers.

Niki Barton, co-owner of the Hockwold venue said: “It is our way of saying thank you for their support in what has been a very difficult year.”

The event is on Saturday, June 26, and anyone wishing to attend needs to let the fishery know as soon as possible. There will be a £10 catch and release all day, with fun competitions.

The bank was a bit tough this week for the 43 anglers, who caught 83 trout, of which 65 were released.

Mixed results saw fish showing all over the surface after a restock on May 26, with boats and float tubes doing well. Damsels, black gnats, foam daddies, cats whiskers, cdcs and black buzzers were the flies of choice.

Dwayne Pywell landed his first trout with a fly rod.
