MOTOR SPORT: Aaron Alexander tried his hand at endurance racing at the weekend, teaming-up with Polish driver Marcel Filipiak at the Rye House Circuit.
The pair represented the Haase UK team and were delighted to earn second place in the four-hour Pro Kart Endurance race.
This was the King’s Lynn star’s first time at the technical circuit. With both drivers in a new kart, it produced a challenge for the team to get the set-up right.
Alexander was chosen to do the qualifying and managed a respectable third place in a big grid. He also started the race with enough fuel to do a one-hour first stint. After the first pit stop, London-based Filipiak jumped into the seat and did a very good 95-minute stint, which meant him coming in on fumes for the second pit stop.
Alexander then jumped back in for the last 85-minute third stint, displaying some top driving skills before crossing the line for the chequered flag and claiming second place.
• Lynn-born George Russell had a disappointing time at the Portuguese GP at the Algarve International Circuit.
The Williams driver finished 16th, with his car struggling in the conditions.
Russell said: “When the wind picks up it becomes a real struggle. It’s a shame but the positives are that we know the strengths and the weaknesses of the card.”
Russell is back on track this weekend at the Spanish GP.
