Tenants and staff at a Downham Market housing with care scheme have thanked youngsters for their special cards.

Pupils at Denver Primary School created the cards as part of this year’s Bishop Stephen’s Lent Challenge (the Bishop of Ely).

Headteacher Louise Jones said: “We worked on supporting the local community and reached out to a local care home in Downham Market, Oakes Court, and sent Easter cards to the residents and staff members.

“Every child created an Easter card to send and Oakes Court sent back a photo of each resident and staff member with their card, along with the name of the child who created it.

“They were thrilled to receive the cards – it gave the residents some much-needed joy and hope after what has been such a difficult year for them.”

Oakes Court, in Palmer Way, used the cards as part of a display and sent a thank you letter to the school.

The children were thanked for their hard work and effort and were told the tenants had enjoyed  receiving the cards. Also enclosed was a photograph of the tenants and staff with the cards.

The youngsters were thanked for their “very kind and thoughtful” gesture by Oakes Court.
