The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

Further details on criteria for the additional eight new hospitals proposed by the government are due to be made known in the “coming weeks”.

It is hoped King’s Lynn Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be one of them after the hospital missed out last year in the government’s 40 planned new builds.

North West Norfolk MP James Wild, who has campaigned alongside the hospital trust, said the QEH had a “compelling case” to be included.

The 40-year-old hospital, built to last 30 years, currently has 131 props holding up the roof.
