“Brian’s Bank” in The Walks is ablaze with yellow daffodils in tribute to parkrun volunteer Brian Paton.

A bank of spring bulbs has bloomed into a fitting tribute to a King’s Lynn Parkrun volunteer.

Last spring volunteer Brian Paton died suddenly and due to Covid restrictions, only a few family members were allowed to attend his funeral.

His wife Charlotte, also a regular parkrun volunteer, decided to raise funds for daffodil bulbs to be planted in The Walks along the bank running next to Tennyson Road – known to the Parkrun community as “Brian’s Bank”.

More than £1,000 was raised and in October, family members and members of King’s Lynn Parkrun met, socially distanced, to plant the bulbs, which have now flowered into a magnificent display.

Event director Gary Walker said the flowers were a “fitting memory of Brian who spent so much time in the park”.
