Two West Winch youngsters are raising money for new village play facilities.
The play park and skatepark has seen better days and residents have formed West Winch Play Facilities Project Group with the parish council to raise money to replace the aging equipment.
A spokesman said: “This last year has shown us the importance of play and outdoor exercise for children and young people both for physical and mental health.
“We want to provide a space for all our children and young people which is fun and imaginative. Also it’s a meeting up place for families in normal times.”
Both the play equipment and skatepark need replacing. Grant help is being sought and every penny raised will help towards the project.
Ten-year-old Lola Frary and Aiva Lamacraft, 8, have kickstarted the fundraising with their “loops and hoops” challenges.
Lola is shooting hoops every day in March and people have been asked to guess how many she will score by the end of the month while Aiva has set herself a target of running 60 miles through West Winch in March.
By last Tuesday Aiva had reached the halfway mark with her sister, Paige, 5, as pacer completing the miles on her bike.
“We’re looking for people to follow their example with imaginative fundraising ideas and to support their fantastic effort with donations,” the spokesman said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up and earlier this week just over £600 had been raised towards a £8,000 target.
