The owners of two indoor seaside tourist attractions are calling on the government to allow them to re-open at the same time as non-essential retail.
Merlin Entertainments, owners of the SEA LIFE centre at Hunstanton, want the government to continue the five per cent reduction in VAT for the tourism sector and extend the current business rates “holiday”.
Covid-secure precautions include pre-booking, temperature checks and social distancing, the owners said. The Hunstanton centre employs more than 40 in peak season. Merlin said it contributes more than £100,000 to the local economy and draws nearly 150,000 visits each year.
