Ninety-five per cent of care homes in the county have now been vaccinated.

Residents at 240 care homes, out of 252, have now received their first dose, the Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) confirmed on Wednesday.

The CCG said the 12 care homes outstanding had not yet been vaccinated due to “safety restrictions” but stated a team would be returning to vaccinate residents and staff “at the earliest possible opportunity”.

A Norfolk and Waveney Health and Care system spokesman said: “This has been an incredible team effort within only a few weeks of the national vaccination programme starting.

“Thanks to the hard work of our staff and volunteers, we’ve been able to offer the first dose of the vaccine to all care homes in our area where it has been safe to do so within the national guidelines for infection prevention and control.”
