Fire stations across West Norfolk have vacancies for retained fire fighters.

Norfolk Fire Service is looking to recruit on-call fire fighters from all walks of life at 22 of its stations.

They include King’s Lynn, Downham Market, Hunstanton, Heacham, Massingham, Methwold, Outwell, West Walton and Sandringham.

To become an on-call firefighter, applicants have to live or work within five minutes travelling distance of the fire station during their hours of declared availability.

Norfolk has 42 fire stations and 39 of them have on-call crew members who use the same equipment and appliances.

The service said applications were particularly welcome “from women and people from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural, national backgrounds and gender identities”.
