Coastal walkers are again being reminded to check the tide times before heading out after RNLI volunteers were called out to rescue a party of four.

Wells inshore lifeboat launched on Sunday afternoon after the group, plus a dog, became stranded in the marshes at Sluice Creek in Wells harbour.

A spokesman said no one was hurt, but the group was cut-off after miscalculating the tide times.

The Coastguard is also urging beach-goers to take care when approaching any items washed up in the recent stormy spell. For help, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard
