Television presenter Piers Morgan has donated £15,000 of his own money to Scotty’s Little Soldiers after crashing out of ITV’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Mr Morgan failed to answer the £32,000 quiz question correctly when he played for Scotty’s on a Boxing Day special.

His total dropped to £1,000 after the wrong answer, but he pledged to put his hand in his pocket to make it up to £16,000.

Charity founder Nikki Scott said: “Piers has helped us in so many ways. It’s not just about the money, one of the most important things for a charity is to raise awareness, so Piers’ support has really helped us to spread word of the work we do.”
