Two servicemen from 617 Squadron at RAF Marham have raised £1,000 for the Nar Valley Federation of Churches Academies to purchase warm uniform hoodies for children.

A senior aircraftsman and an aircraft engineering technician approached friends and colleagues at the squadron for donations.

The aircraftsman, who plays football for a team in Norwich, came up with the idea after his team were looking at ways to support schools.

He wanted to do something more local to the base and contacted Narborough Primary School, which is part of the Nar Valley Federation of Church School Academies, part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust, along with Castle Acre and Sporle Primary academies, to ask what they needed.

Pupils needed extra layers to keep warm as windows have been opened to increase airflow and help fight the spread of COVID-19.
