RUGBY UNION: West Norfolk Ladies and Colts both returned to action at Gatehouse Lane on Sunday.

Diss were the visitors and brought a welcome chance for the hosts to take to the pitch for the first time since March.

The women played an adapted form of the game, created to minimise contact.

With new players making their debut for West and the team having never played a Ready4Rugby match, it was a case of learning on the job but West quickly settled in with Tiffany Turner scoring the first of her two tries within minutes of the kick off.

Spirits were high as the ball moved fluidly through the hands of the team with further tries from Lucy Shaw, Danielle Barrett (2) and captain Amber Wadlow. Tally Read (3), Sarah Hodgson, and Rosie Lingham added to the tally.

In the final quarter the flowing team work continued, which allowed Sarah Hodgson to break through the Diss defensive line to pass to Lucy Parrish who scored in the far corner to complete a 13-2 win.

Danielle Barrett earned the player of the match award on her team debut.

A colts team made up of u16 and u18 players were beaten 25-7.

Club training returns in the New Year and details will be on their social media pages.
