Residents will have noticed increased flights above the Marham area this week, while the RAF carries out a training exercise named Exercise Crimson Warrior.

RAF Marham’s 617 Squadron is being joined by others from across the air force, as well as the F-35 VMFA-211 Squadron from the United States Marine Corps, which arrived in the UK at the beginning of September to train alongside the UK F-35 jets based at RAF Marham.

Crimson Warrior is part of 617 and VMFA-211 squadrons’ joint preparation for the Carrier Strike Group deployment next year.

Also participating in the exercise is the Voyager Aircraft from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire which will provide re-fuelling support to all aircraft.

The large scale exercise will continue next week.
