FOOTBALL: Thurlow Nunn League Division One North leaders Fakenham Town were given a tough test by Downham Town on Tuesday.
After slipping to a disappointing 4-0 home defeat to Framlingham Town on Saturday, Downham bounced back well.
Matt Calvert and Joe Jackson gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at Clipbush Park to put Fakenham’s unbeaten record in peril. However, the hosts stepped up a gear to score three second-half goals to clinch the points. Not that Town gave up without a fight, only a stunning save by the home goalkeeper in the closing stages and the cross bar in stoppage time deprived them of a deserved point.
King’s Lynn Town u21s pulled off a steady 3-2 win at Diss Town on Saturday.
Flo Tsagium gave them the half-time lead and, after the hosts levelled, Joe Taylor and Alex Walpole pushed the Linnets back ahead before the home team grabbed a late consolation.
