MOTOR SPORT: Hopes of a prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour victory for West Norfolk’s Alex Bundle were dashed.

Although United Autosports won the event with car 22’s crew of Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and Paul Di Resta, Brundle suffered cruel luck when his car suffered a broken oil pipe, meaning they had to pit for repairs from the lead of the race.

Repairs took just over 45 minutes and meant Brundle and co-drivers Will Owen and Job van Uitert dropped from challenging for victory to 13th place. It was small consolation that Van Uitert set the fastest lap of the race on lap 248.

“We got off to a good start and I made a couple of nice moves to get up to second,” said Brundle. “We could have won the race in all honesty as all three of us had the pace. It was a normal driver change from me to Job and then I heard we had started to have issues. It then went from there. But it’s just one of those things.”
