A generous donation of a variety of fun gifts has boosted the Scotty’s Virtual Festival appeal.

The well-known Appleton showmen family from West Norfolk has kindly given a host of pocket-sized goodies to go inside the festival party bags.

And, with the Friday, September 18 event date drawing nearer, it has been confirmed popular Norfolk party band Bear Club is to perform  live from the Corn Exchange in King’s Lynn as part of the festival.

Triston Finnis, of Twisted Melon Promotions, has helped to organise the performance in conjunction with the Tuesday Market Place venue.

A spokesman for the band, which has played at many Lynn events including Festival Too, said: “It’s an honour to be invited and an honour to play for such a great cause.”

North Lynn-based charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers is looking to spread some lockdown cheer to its young members, who are British armed forces children who have lost a parent

The festival will start at 6pm and Your Local Paper has teamed-up with Scotty’s to raise £3,500 to post special festival party bags out to the children to help make the event extra fun.

The Appleton family has donated bouncy balls, squishy spiders, springy toys and more.

The festival bags will include a note to acknowledge readers’ support and your donations of whatever amount you can spare, will pay for more items such as T-shirts, glow sticks, face paints, glitter tattoos, bunting and banners to create a festival atmosphere at home.

YLP has donated £250 to the appeal and managing director Alan Taylor said: “We are delighted and thankful to the Appleton family, Triston of Twisted Melon Promotions and of course Bear Club for contributing to the Scotty’s Virtual Festival.

“Their help is really appreciated and the families taking part will certainly benefit, which is what this is all about. We really now need a little more help financially so if possible, please visit the JustGiving page and donate what you can.”
