Henry Heath with a new best catch, a 40lb 8oz mirror carp.

ANGLING: Unsettled weather this week improved the catches at Nar Valley Fisheries.

Fenn Lake produced carp to 28lb, with tench to 10lb and Wels catfish to 40lb from John’s Pond.

The 35-acre Lake Geneva has been fishing well with carp caught from all around the water. Big bream have also been active with specimens well into double figures willing to take boilies.

Top rods this week were father and son duo Matt and Henry Heath. Matt had a couple of short sessions, producing some nice carp to 33lb 6oz but this achievement was put into second place by 11-year-old Henry.

He joined his dad at the weekend to cast into the teeth of a strong south-westerly wind and fished a 15mm pop-up on a baited spot at 60 yards. Early the next morning Henry landed his new personal best mirror carp, a superb fish of 40lb 8oz.
