A Snettisham business man is determined to make his new retail park a “destination venue”.

After 18 months of renovation, Chris Blaxill, 41, was set to open Poppyfields Retail Park at the beginning of April.

But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the opening of the Snettisham site, previously a garden centre, was put on hold.

Kiera Lee Fenables has opened her new salon in Poppyfields and below, a view of the new cafe.

However, as restrictions have now eased, Mr Blaxill said he had decided to go ahead with a “soft opening”.

“With the current situation, we will be taking baby steps. I think that’s the wisest thing to do,” said Mr Blaxill, who owns Snettisham Car Sales.

So far, Le Kiera hair salon has opened, as well as Christyana Fabrics and Blinds.

But Poppylicious cafe is set to open next month and craft fairs and farmers’ markets are set to be held from next year.

Further plans for the site, which has nine retail units, also includes opening offices and conference rooms.

Mr Blaxill said: “Since I have turned 40, I look at this as my final chapter.

“I have put everything into it. There has been a fair bit to do and I want to invest and build on it.

“I want to make Poppyfields a destination venue for tourists as well as a hub for the community.”
