More West Norfolk businesses are gearing up to re-open their doors when further lockdown restrictions are eased next week.
Hair salons and restaurants have been preparing to welcome customers in a COVID-19 secure environment after the government announced on Tuesday they were among the businesses able re-open from Saturday, July 4.
During lockdown, The Barn Restaurant in School Road, Terrington St John, has made the most of its outdoor area by installing five dining pods.
Owner Josh Green said he hoped the pods would help customers to feel safe when venturing out to have a meal after three months of lockdown.
“They have the pods in London, so that’s where I got the idea from,” he said.
“They are fully air conditioned in the summer, heated in the winter, and are protected against winds up to 60mph.”
The furnished pods will seat up to six people and are thought to be the first in West Norfolk.
Mr Green, who has owned the restaurant for almost three years, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest since we put a little bit about the pods on our Facebook page.
“We even have had a television crew from ITV come to see it.
“It will be a luxury dining experience. When a pod is booked, it will be the customer’s for the whole evening. The restaurant will be also open too.”
