A Downham Market man’s mission to continue producing face shields for local workers has received a helping hand from Rotarians.

The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn has donated £250 to engineer Mike Ford who has been producing face shields on his 3D printer at home for several weeks.

By the middle of this month, he had made more than 1,500 which have been donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Lynn, hospices, supermarkets, care workers, care homes, surgeries and pharmacies.

Some of the materials have been donated by Derek Harvey, of Lynn’s Office Wise, and Mr Ford has received several donations to help fund his work.

Since the pandemic, the Rotary club has made donations totalling some £4,750 to organisations and charities.

This month, cheques for £250 will also go to Lynn Samaritans, Nelson’s Journey, The Bridge for Heroes, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and the British Heart Foundation.
