Staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital were joined by firefighters for the weekly Clap For Our Carers event in a touching show of unity.

Millions of people up and down the country have been taking part every Thursday, showing their support by giving a round of applause at 8pm.

Streets up and down the country, eerily quiet during lockdown, have been filled with claps, cheers and whistles thanks to the campaign.

Crowds of staff gathered outside the King’s Lynn hospital last week, cheering and clapping alongside fire officers from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service.

Clap For Our Carers, inspired by similar events abroad, was due to be held for the fifth consecutive week last night and has become a televised event.
