The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has seen a rise in coronavirus cases.

The number of patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has risen to 40.

The hospital in King’s Lynn has seen an increase of 18 cases from the previous update of 22.

A hospital spokesman said out of the 40 cases, four have died, three have been discharged, and 33 are currently being treated.

The hospital has also tightened visiting restrictions to help protect patients.

Visiting is no longer allowed on wards until further notice – only with the following exceptions:

  • One parent permitted to accompany children
  • One birthing partner permitted to attend the maternity department
  • One carer is permitted to the emergency department, but must remain with the patient at all times
  • Exceptions can be discussed with ward managers if a relative is receiving end-of-life care
