Members of a King’s Lynn bowls club raised £1,240 for charity with a host of fundraisers including a cake and fizz afternoon and race night.

The Globe Bowls Club, based in The Walks, wanted to support the Cancer Care and Treatment Fund at the town’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital after several members received treatment at the Macmillan unit.

Club members visited the Gayton Road hospital last week to present the cheque to staff.

Acute oncology sister Ria Parker said: “Thank you so much for this donation. The money will be put towards new equipment for the unit to further improve patient care and experience.”

The club, which has around 700 members, thanked everyone who donated money and prizes.

A special thank you went to Megan Barton who baked for the cakes and fizz fundraising event.
